"'Green Power' is simply power that is produced by a renewable ('green') energy source, as distinct from power produced by fossil fuel, nuclear, and other types of generators."

The SiamGPI Portable Green Power Systems are advanced and proven portable fuel cells. They are available in three ratings: 600, 1200 or 1600 Wh per day.

Need more power?

No problem – You can run up to five SiamGPI Portable Fuel Cells in parallel to obtain a capacity of up to 8,000 Wh per day.

The perfect portable carefree energy solution. The SiamGPI fuel cells ensure fully automated energy supply, anytime, day or night, without requiring any user intervention.

There are numerous commercial applications for SiamGPI's low cost, silent, zero emission fuel cell based technology. First of all as portable power generator, and as back-up power and as UPS, but also as stationary power source and in motive applications.

Now you have a competitively priced, superior environmental and non-hazardous alternative to internal combustion engines (generators) and conventional battery power sources:

  • Power generators for remote areas,
    • tourism for remote hotels, or resorts on islands.
    • houses and villages in areas too far away from any power grid.
  • Emergency back up power generators which will operate indoors for hospitals, schools, colleges, super markets, surgical centers, etc.
  • Portable applications for recreation including boats, RV’s, camping, cottages

Fuel cells convert chemical energy directly into electrical energy, which makes fuel cells particularly efficient.

The essential technical difference between fuel cells and batteries is that fuel cells separate energy transformation and energy storage. The fuel cell will continue to generate electrical current as long as fuel is added.

The fuel cell is ‘a very old innovation’. Discovered in 1839, the principle of the fuel cell is extremely simple. Two electrodes connected externally by an electric circuit and separated by an electrolyte are supplied, in the presence of a catalyst, in one case with hydrogen or methanol – which acts as a fuel – and in the other with atmospheric oxygen. The "fuel" atom at the anode splits off an electron. The ion migrates through the electrolyte to the cathode where it combines with the oxygen (also emitting heat), while the electron runs through the electrical circuit, producing a current.

How do DMFC fuel cells work?

Low-temperature fuel cells are suitable for mobile applications because they generate electricity at low temperatures. The two main types are hydrogen fuel cells and direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC). The SiamGPI portable power systems uses DMFC technology because methanol is safer and more affordable.

How do DMFC fuel cells work?

A mixture of methanol and water is introduced to the anode side by a patented internal water-management system. Ambient air is pumped into the fuel cell on the cathode side. An electrical circuit connects the anode and the cathode sides. Upon contact with the platinum catalyst, methanol releases its electrons which flow in the direction of the cathode. At the same time, protons are released and these penetrate the membrane to the cathode. There, oxygen reacts with the proton and electrons to form pure water.

During the chemical process, the fuel cell heats up to about 40° C, releasing water as vapor and carbon dioxide. The amount of water vapor and carbon dioxide released is comparable to that found in the breath of a child.

Safe to use in any application:

Safety and reliability are becoming ever more important, as fuel cell systems are moving out of the labs into everyday life and into people’s houses, boats or motor homes.

Thus the SiamGPI Portable Green Power Systems are using the world’s first fuel cells featuring the brand new “Fuel Cell System” TUEV SUED octagon quality seal. The TUEV SUED (Germany) experts tested safety and quality based on the current draft standard IEC 62282-5.

In the framework of the certification the “heart” of the fuel cell, the so-called fuel cell stack, and the complete system periphery were tested.
